When you are vacationing on Maui, snorkeling is an absolute must! You will see so many gorgeous underwater reef and ancient lava formations, fish, octopus, Hawaiian green sea turtles, rays, eels and many more indigenous species.
There are several great snorkel spots on Maui, however Molokini is truly second to none for those who love snorkeling and marine life, and our most popular snorkel tour as well. According to a local legend, Molokini was a female gecko who fell in love with a prince of Maui whom Pele, the fire goddess also longed for. Pele, in her fury, cut the gecko in two and turned her into stone. Her curved tail is said to be Molokini. This crescent-shaped crater is home for 250 species of fish, may of which are endemic.
However, getting to Molokini itself is an amazing journey on the sparking clear blue ocean, from where you will view Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini all at the same time and from the water. You might spot dolphins, even whales if you are here between November and May.
At Maui Reef Adventures we believe in the highest standards for our Molokini snorkel trips, just relax and enjoy Hawaii’s beauty!
